Here is today's question:
To you, what qualifies a book as good or bad? Are some books objectively better than others, or is it purely a matter of opinion?(submitted by Zeb)

My anwer:

One part of me thinks: yes, this is purely objective and everyone has different tastes, someone may not like romance or fantasy whereas others devour those books. However, aren't we just talking about different genres here? I think we all know that there are some books which are simply not very well written… I mean, they could do with some more editing maybe?

Still, I think its rare that a book is all 'bad' from beginning to end, in fact I don't think I have experienced this. (Have I just been lucky here?) There are, of course, things which I don't like in a book. For example, in a recent book I didn't like the names given to all the characters (they were all very fancy/posh and didn't fit the story which was a chick-lit) The book was still very entertaining. I wouldn't call a book just simply good or bad I think, because there is so much more to it. Good or bad…characters, story, language.

Here is today's question:
This annoys me, what about you? When I click on a blogger's name and it goes to their profile and I see more than one blog listed, how do you know which one to visit? I usually don't visit.

And my answer:

Ah, that is very interesting for me as I'm quite a new blogger (since beginning of this year). I'm technically not that good and often are not aware of these things. Yes, I know what you mean and have encountered it before. I will still visit and click on the link which sounds most 'bookish'. I know that I have other blogs and hope that my book blog has a relevant bookish name. I've now also learned how to insert direct links into a comment :)

Happy reading everyone!

Here is today's question:

How do you handle unsolicited books that appear in your mailbox? Do you add them to your queue? Do you write to the sender and explain you didn't ask for the book and are not sure when you will be able to read and review the book? Or do you simply not read the book at all?

And my answer:

I'm a very new book blogger. Saying this, I've been blogging for a while, but in January 2014 decided to concentrate on my love for books. Therefore, so far, I did not have any unsolicited books.  At the moment, I would be quite happy to review (as it means that I get more well known as a book reviewer). I work on a first come, first served basis.  I also quite enjoy the different variety of books I have received so far - books I probably would not have considered previously. But, in only 6 weeks as a book reviewer, I can already see that one has to apply a certain limit (?how - only certain genres, certain authors, certain publishers?). I've already got quite a few books to review and while so far I've enjoyed all of them and also enjoyed my communication with the authors ( I guess I was lucky so far), clearly if I happen to get several ones a day, I can't read them all. Let's wait and see for the moment, and I will be really really curious to see what the others, much more experienced reviewers, are saying on this questions.

Happy reading everyone!

Here is today's question:

What is the highest number of books you received in one day either in the mail or from UPS or FedEx?

And my answer:

Ah I think I can actually answer this exactly because I think it happened yesterday :) It's 8 and it's the number of books from the Richard and Judy Book Club (it's a book club there in the UK and it's similar to Oprah in the US). Sooooo looking forward to start on them…. only problem is that I already have quite a few books here for review which take precedence. Will hopefully write a little feature on what titles there are in the book club over the weekend.

Happy reading everyone!

Here is today's question:

When you receive new books in the mail, do the older ones get moved to the bottom of your list or do go strictly "by the book" and keep your list with older books first and then the new ones?

and here is my answer:

I read strictly first received - first read. I've made an Excel list so I don't get lost with the books I've received since being a book blogger.

For my hardbacks/paperbacks, they are in my bookcase and I will have a fit if anyone changes the order arrrrgh :) The whole system got a bit messed up since I've now got a Kindle. And I did allow myself to pick a book which I was really looking forward to reading ---wait for it-- from the back of the shelf (!!)--- for a holiday.

As a new book blogger, I have not yet taken place in book / author tours, but hopefully will do soon. If I do, than I can obviously see the need that a book will need to be read at a certain time. Also, if I ever get to the stage to receive ARC, I think they would be obviously to a certain time constraint? Don't' know. Haven't thought about this one yet.

Here is today's question:

Do you think you will ever read every book in your TBR stack?

And my answer is:

For all the bogs which are (physically) at the moment on my TBR book shelf and on my Kindle - yes, I am getting through them. I usually even make an effort to put the newest purchases to the back ( I can be really disciplined if I want to!) and so they slowly inch their way forward - book by book. Well, I hope one day all of them will be read. Of course, new once's are being added all the time.

If I'm reviewing books, that usually will go to the front of the pile though.

However, the 'what I still would like to read in my lifetime' pile (not yet purchased), oh dear, that is never ever going to be done. And with so many new and good books/authors joining all the time… I need more holidays, that's what it is!
