The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!
How does this work?
The goal is to increase blog followers and make friends. First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools — keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them “hi” in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you! What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to WordPress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don’t have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed. All features are chosen randomly to be the feature. They are not chosen by content or name.

Hard print (real thing) or Kindle/Nook, which is your favourite?
I am guessing that a lot of people are going to answer this in a similar way to me: both really, wouldn't want to be without either.
See, I resisted the Ebook revolution for a long time. Kept thinking 'Well, I've got a lot of paperbacks in my TBR pile, I want to read those first... why do I need an E-reader etc etc. Than I couldn't resist and bought my first Kindle Paperwhite a year ago (yes, only a year ago!) and at Christmas bought myself a Kindle Fire. Oh, I love it, and couldn't live without it any more. Now I've got a TBR e-pile and a TBR paperback pile. It's so easy to click and download books, and all the free books ah ... But I think I would always love to go into a book shop and look at the books and buy books. It's a tradition for me to go into a book shop, and than sit in the coffee shop at the back and fondly look at my purchases and possibly even start reading. I could never be without that, despite my love for my Kindle.

This weeks question:
What are your non-book guilty pleasures? Like TV shows, food, websites, hobbies, etc.
I work full time, and sometimes carry a pager as well, so often there simply isn't enough for anything else apart from reading and blogging. I do spend a lot of time on my laptop! My family also consist of 1 hubby, 3 children (20, 18 and 15 years), 1 dog and 5 cats so it's never boring in the Farooqi household.
I also enjoy knitting and cross stitch needlecraft - have to be in the mood for it though. I like walking (power walking and rambling).
I don't actually watch a lot of TV any more. About a year ago or so, the TV in my study broke down, and I kind of didn't get to replace it and got used to not having one. Now I don't even miss it. We do have a TV in the lounge where my husband and the children mostly watch. I know it sounds silly, but I don't have the patience to sit in front of the TV and only watch - if I do, I'll take a book or the laptop and kind of watch TV as well. I'm not a gaming person at all - just doesn't tempt me at all, not even the simplest games i.e. Solitaire.
Food? Yes, I am a Food Lover. Sweet, savoury - anything. That's why I'm a serial diet club attender :)

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
It feels good to receive emails from publisher, asking me if they can send me books to read. It seems pretty obvious- but for me, it is still amazing that people want to hear my opinion. The Internet and my blog give me the chance to chat books to just about anyone, in any place around the world, which is just great.

Aww, can't wait to check out everyone's blogs on this one. So, here we go:
I have 1 dog and 5 cats.
Our dog Bonnie is a labrador, she is now 8 years old.
This photo is probably about 4 years old or so, here is Bonnie with my daughter Ruby (right) and her best friend Natasha.
Our 5 cats are:
Uncle Raja (10 years old)
My husband rescued him from the grounds of the college where he was working at the time.
Honey and Candy are sisters from the same litter, they are now 8 years old.
Medway, 5 years old.
My husband rescued him as a kitten from the grounds of the hospital where he still works, and he is named after the hospital (can you see a theme going on here with my husband and bringing home kittens!) He is the most placid cat and big friends with Bonnie the dog.
And our pretty boy :) , Arlo who is 3 years old.
He actually has some pedigree blood in him, he is half Siamese / half Russian Blue. We got him from a friend of mine who changed jobs which meant lots of travelling so she couldn't look after him any more.

Spring Break. Where would be your favorite destination spot if you could join the Spring Break festivities?
I like nothing more than sunshine with a lovely hotel with a nice bar, nice pool and sun lounger. I'm not one for very intense activities on my break - maybe I'm getting old - just laying by the pool with a good book will do me anytime. My favourite destination for me would be Spain / The Canary Islands which offers nice sunshine for us Europeans even in the winter. And as it happens, this is where I will be heading in 6 days Jippeeeeeee :) Got my books already sorted for this - will take Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, Apple Tree yard by Louise Doughty and The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. All got quite a bit of publicity recently, and I haven't read them yet. Can't wait!!!!

This week it's a question:
How have your reading habits changed in the past few years? Did you get interested in a new genre? Do you read more? Less? Why do you think your habits changed, if they did.
In the past few years? I would say my reading habits have changed a lot since becoming a book blogger / reviewer. I I am much more open to new and independent authors. Also, I am now open to genres which I would not have considered before (one example is fantasy) and was surprised that I actually enjoy it. I love the variety of books I get offered. Another reasons I suppose for a changing reading habits are popular books. For example, a few years back I would not have considered vampire stories, or erotica. And I don't just mean the popular books at the time, but the whole genre which I now consider.

Dear blogging friends - Just saying that I'm having right trouble with GFC at the moment - won't let me join other blogs arrgh! I'm trying to get back in there and can still follow via G+ and bloglovin of course.

Spring is in the air! Show off your favorite outdoors reading spot. If you don’t go outside…well where else do you read that isn’t inside your house? We want pics! – PJ Note – I WISH!!! It’s like 30 degrees here. When will Spring Cometh?
OK, I know it's not fair, to all of you still suffering from the winter weather - we had temperatures in the high 60's here in SE England last weekend. I managed to clear out my back yard, done the weeding ready for some plants to go in (I'm not a great gardener - time I'd rather spend reading)
The table is where he usually sit in the summer - there is a sweet cherry tree just to the left of it which gives shade in the summer. And sweet cherries :)

Recommend some of your favorite back-list books – books that are at least a few years old (I’m thinking 5-10 years old rather than classics)
I have chosen 3 fiction books which I just love because I think they have all come up with something unique.
1. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon
(first published 2003)
This book stands out for me and I always remember what great read it was for me. Maybe because I didn't think I would enjoy a book which has a child as a narrator. But young Christopher's story is something else all together and his view of an autistic boy who tries to understand the world around him when a neighbours dog apparently got killed made me understand and think about autism in a way which no academic book ever could. Hugely entertaining.
2. Life of Pi by Yann Martel
(first published 2001)

Another book which did surprise me by how much I enjoyed it. I took to Pi straight away even before he ended up shipwrecked in the boat on the ocean with zoo animals as company and their quest for survival. Did I mention that one of the zoo animals is a Bengal tiger? Unique, sometimes weird and never boring.
1. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

What a fantastic idea for a book. And I learned from Susie Salmon that one day I may find my own personal heaven. (oh, and my daughter's teacher told her she should not be reading this, it is too dark - she was 14 at the time)

What a fantastic idea for a book. And I learned from Susie Salmon that one day I may find my own personal heaven. (oh, and my daughter's teacher told her she should not be reading this, it is too dark - she was 14 at the time)
And 2 non-fiction books which are kind of important to me.
1. On writing by Stephen King

2. Stasiland by Anna Funder (non-fiction)
(first published 2003)
This is slightly different, because it's kind of personal to me. I would usually try to keep all politics out of my blog, as it's just not the place IMHO. The author goes behind the Berlin Wall and tells us the human stories - tragic, moving, sometimes even almost funny. I was brought up behind the Berlin Wall and lived there for the first 21 years of m life. I only learned many of the things which went out with the Stasi (East German Secret Service) after the Wall came down.
